End of HIPS
May 20th, 2010
The suspension (and future abolition) of HIPS can only be a good thing for the Durham housing market. One has to feel sorry for those people who spent large sums of money training to be HIPS providers and setting up their HIPS businesses, but the fact that a house can now be put up for sale at minimal cost must be a good thing for the market for houses and flats in Durham.
This is a positive start for the new government’s housing policy. What we now want is steady long-term development of that policy. The first step should be a housing minister who stays in place for a long time, not theĀ 9 ministers in 13 years that housing has recently endured.
