Don’t wait until Autumn

With the sun shining and summer holidays beckoning it’s all too easy to postpone decisions about important property matters. It would be quite wrong to think that it’s holiday time so nobody is looking to rent somewhere. In fact, summer is the busiest time of year for professional lettings (that’s letting your property to a person who has a job) in and around Durham.
July, August and early September are when university professors, lecturers and researchers are looking for a place to live for the new academic year. Nor is it just the academic market that’s busy. Many people with families choose to move house and/or job during the summer so that their children don’t have to change school in the middle of the school year. This means that there’s a particularly strong demand for family homes, especially if they are near to good schools.
When you do look for a Durham letting agent to market your property, make sure you choose one who ensures that your money will be completely safe. As Durham’s first agent to be licensed by the National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS), any money that we hold on your behalf is safeguarded under the NALS client money protection scheme. Similar security is provided by those agents who are members of ARLA or RICS. But be very careful if you choose an agent that does not come under one of these three umbrellas, your money may not be secure.
